Manager, BI&A GPS Cell Therapy Analytics

BMS BIA (Business Insights and Analytics) is a corporate function with the mission to create objective analytics and insights for business units to drive competitive advantage and accelerate growth. The Global Product Development and Supply (GPS) business unit is responsible for the development, manufacturing and supply of quality clinical and commercial drugs to the right patients at the right time. GPS Analytics teams partner with GPS stakeholders to develop advanced analytics capabilities and drive fact-based decision-making. Under the guidance of the Director of Cell Therapy Analytics, this role will build analytics capabilities for GPS Cell Therapy Development & Operations (CTDO). Cell therapy analytics is a nascent capability for the BIA GPS team, and you will have the opportunity to help build out our processes, tools and capabilities for supporting this promising new therapeutic area. You will have the opportunity to learn, execute, and influence business results by using GPS CTDO data. You will serve as an active partner with teams to develop data driven insights and reporting, and improve business performance through automation, simulation and predictive modeling. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the power of data and the opportunity to build and drive capabilities in a data-rich Fortune 200 company. The right candidate will have a strong interest in solving business problems first and foremost, and an eagerness to work on all parts of the analytics process, from partnering with IT on data pipelines to deploying predictive models. Roles and Responsibilities 1. Supporting Priority Business Decisions • Develops and maintains an understanding of CT business priorities, critical business issues and value levers, in close collaboration with CT stakeholders • Meets agreed upon analytics deliverables and timing • Communicates complex quantitative analysis in a clear, concise, and actionable manner • Supports a culture of analytics and fact-based decision making within CT, in partnership with stakeholders 2. Building and Enhancing Analytics Capabilities • Collaborates with subject matter experts from across the business to design, establish and maintain foundational data pipelines and business facing reports and dashboards • Designs, develops, and implements a broad array of CT analytics that solve complex problems in a computationally efficient and statistically valid manner • Makes complex analytical solutions simple enough for the business to understand and use, and drives uptake to engrain analytics solutions into standard business processes • Proactively manages planned and ad hoc analytics requests, ensuring consistent quality and timeliness in delivery to business stakeholders • Supports best practice adoption across the team, applying appropriate levels of technical capability, standardization, automation and functional area expertise • Proactively identifies opportunities to further apply analytics and data solutions and works with stakeholders and the team to prioritize projects with the biggest potential benefit to the business 3. Strengthening Partnerships • Collaborates closely with business stakeholders, enabling functions (including IT, Procurement, and Finance) and external analytics contractors to understand and execute analytics projects to achieve CT organizational objectives • Effectively partners and collaborates with other BIA team members (including but not limited to GPS Supply Chain, Business Performance Management, Commercial Analytics, R&D Analytics etc.) to learn best practices and technologies and support delivering a consistent BIA engagement model to stakeholders Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in analytical, quantitative or scientific field; advanced degree preferred • 3 – 5 years of experience using advanced analytics • Advanced proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (Python or R) • Experience using visualization tools and building dashboards (preference for Tableau) • Experience with the application of predictive modeling and optimization • Ability to communicate effectively to audiences of varying degrees of familiarity with analytics • Able to build effective relationships with stakeholders and business partners • Demonstrable project management and execution skills • Experience with cloud-based ELT pipelines a significant plus • Experience with BMS applications (including SAP, Oracle, LIMS) a plus • Experience with biotech process development, supply chain, manufacturing operations or assays a significant plus • Understanding of cell therapy technologies and manufacturing processes and assays a significant plus Note: this role can be based in either our Seattle or central New Jersey offices. The role will involve periodic travel between the two locations and also to other sites in our worldwide manufacturing network.
