Summary of Job Function: The Mental Health Techncian (MHT)is a member of the multidisciplinary patient care team. Works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse to provide care to patients with diverse psychiatric illnesses. The Mental HealthTechnician provides key assistance with patients who require special precautions, and are responsible for remaining with the assigned patient at all times during their assigned shift except when relieved by staff for break and meal time. The MentalHealth Technician is expected to remain alert and observant to prevent injury or escape, and engage in therapeutic communication and activities to distract, occupy, and develop therapeutic rapport.
