Enterprise Data Modeler


This is a Contract position in Piscataway, NJ posted March 31, 2020.

What you’ll be doing…

As an Enterprise Data Modeler, you will support the development and maintenance of data architecture models and assets. You will create and maintain an enterprise level inventory of Data Architecture models in support of an enterprise AI and Data Governance program. You will focus on the establishment of a Data Asset Management practice and the implementation of Master Data Management solutions.

  • Establish Data Asset Management practice including the development of an enterprise data model, data architecture, metadata model, standards for modelling and an operating model to ensure sustainability.

  • Support the development and maintenance of current state and target state architecture models and roadmaps.

  • Propose architecture solution alternatives considering business and technology constraints as well as opportunities and drives alignment of business solutions to architectural standards.

  • Work with the Business Product, Data, Information, Software, and Security Architects to deliver business solution designs that meet the functional needs and operate reliably.

  • Ensure data governance and lineage is maintained for data assets in support of privacy laws.

  • Lead the implementation master data solutions, definitions, and dictionaries and ensure appropriate dissemination.

  • Lead the overall direction and execution of key data quality strategies.

  • Identify, approve, and manage critical data elements and changes.

  • Work with Legal to clarify what data can be used for what purposes.

  • Design taxonomies and ontologies in support of diverse data domains such as Customer, Employee, Product, and Supplier.

  • Supervise staff in support of master data management projects and programs.

What we’re looking for…

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience taxonomy and ontology development.

  • Hands on data modeling experience.

  • Experience with data cataloging using products like Collibra, IBM Cloud Pak, or Informatica.

  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree. Masters in Computer Science, Information Science, or Engineering.

  • Working knowledge of artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

  • Experience implementing Master Data Management solutions for large enterprise solutions.

  • Data management experience.

  • Trained in ontological development and library science.

  • Knowledge of Data Architecture, Data Integration, Database Design, Data Modeling, Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Profiling, Data Cleansing, and Meta-Data Management.

  • Ability to manage and work with both technical and non-technical team/staff members.

  • Proven ability at engaging and influencing functional leaders and partners.
